Ukarydee Equestrian Riding Trails

In the heart of Adams County you will find many miles of recreational trails
geared to the horseback rider. These gently winding trails wander through
pine plantations, prairies, marshes, wildlife ponds, and the Wisconsin River.
Along these trails abundant wildlife may be observed.  Does, fawns, bucks,
sand hill cranes, ducks, turkey and raccoons are frequently spotted. The trail
system is the home of at least two pair of bald eagles who return to their same
nest every year.  The horse trails are laid out in loops with most loops allowing
access to additional trails that provide more distance. The trails are laid out
around two rustic roads which allow easy access or an easy exit if a rider
would get tired.

There are two areas that provide hitching rails so riders can take a break, eat
a picnic lunch, stretch and enjoy the scenery. There are three waterfront
viewing areas along the trail system. One trail meanders along a stream for a
spell, two trails provide direct viewing of the Wisconsin River. One of these
areas is shallow enough to ride your horse safely in the water, and cool your
feet or your horse on a hot day.

Two other trails are along off-shoots of the Wisconsin River. One of them is
Wallers Pond and is a favorite fishing spot. It has a boat launch and allows
someone who would rather be fishing or boating an easy access to the
Wisconsin River.  The Castle Rock trails are located on land owned by
WRPCO and Alliant Energy. Because it is privately owned, there are no state
trail fees.  The trailhead is equipped with hitching rails, a kiosk, a large
parking area and a wonderful watering pond. The Castle Rock Trails are
directly adjoining Ukarydee Equestrian campground.
